What to Expect

A typical Tuesday afternoon starts with some activities:

Skittles

Kurling

Bean Bag Tossing

Boules

Seated Fun Exercises to Music

None of these activities is compulsory: guests can sit back and watch, cheering from the side-lines if that’s what they’d prefer to do.

If there’s time before tea we might play a game of dominoes or it’s eyes down for the ever popular Bingo (including prizes!). Photocards of famous faces are sometimes passed around which prompt lots of questions such “who’s that?”, “what are they famous for?” and “what was that song they sang?”.

Then it’s time for a welcome cup of tea and a slice or two of cake (usually homemade). Perfect for a catch up with each other and often a time to reminisce about the good old days.

And we round off the afternoon with a sing-along led by one of our fabulous volunteer musicians. This is the highlight of the afternoon for some of our guests when we sing songs old and new. A special song has been written for the cafe – click here to read all about it.
